Ohanaeze expresses views on the most recent court order on the forfeiture of Ekweremadu's property.

The Federal High Court's decision by Justice Inyang Ekwo directing that Senator Ike Ekweremadu relinquish 40 supposedly his property, has been criticised and called premature by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

According to bendelnews, the former Deputy Senate President is still detained in the United Kingdom on suspicion of allegedly harvesting organs. This order was issued on Friday by a Federal Court in Abuja.

The verdict, in Ohanaeze's opinion, fails to uphold moral principles and the principles of natural justice.

Sen. Ike Ekweremadu should be given the chance to defend himself on his properties, the group said in a statement signed by Dr. Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, national publicity secretary. If found guilty, Ekweremadu "should surely face the consequences."

The group went on to say that while it was aware that the anti-graft agency was investigating numerous charges of corruption, it found it odd and true to form that the congressman from Enugu was given special treatment.

Therefore, it appeals to all upright Nigerian legal authorities to step in and stop the spread of tyranny.
