No primary elections will be held again in Ogun, PDP cautions

There will be no rerun of the state's primaries, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Ogun State has reminded all of its members.

This was stated in a statement that Sikirulahi Ogundele, the PDP State Chairman, made accessible to DAILY POST on Friday night.

In a statement released on October 4 by the party's national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party acknowledged that it had appealed a Federal High Court decision that had invalidated all of the PDP's primaries in Ogun, according to Ogundele.

He said that NWC was unable to organize any additional primary elections after appealing the ruling.

Ogundele forewarned party members who held any illegal primary elections in Ogun that they would face punishment.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Ogun state has issued a statement saying that it "hereby distances itself from any claimed primary election for aspirants of the party."

As stated in a news release issued by the National Working Committee (NWC) of our party on October 4, 2022 and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the NWC had appealed the rulings that had invalidated the party's primary elections.

"I wish to clarify clearly that I have the authority of our National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, that punishments await any type of disobedience. The NWC had challenged the judgments and could not have organized any alleged primary election.

The DAILY POST learned that a segment of the party is preparing to organize a parallel primary on Saturday. As a result, we ask all party supporters to maintain their composure and focus while we wait for the appeal court ruling.
