Video: Fani-Kayode attacks Atiku over Northern comments

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP's presidential candidate, has come under fire for claiming that the North doesn't require a president who is Yoruba or Igbo.

Atiku said that as a Pan-Nigerian with northern ancestry, Northerners should support him over a Yoruba or Igbo candidate.

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode condemned his remark and declared that Atiku would not be permitted to treat Nigerians in the same manner as he did Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Fani-Kayode referred to Atiku's comment as disrespectful and repulsive in a series of tweets.

According to Fani-Kayode, Northern members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) think it's time for the South to regain control.

He stated: "The North needs a Northern President, Atiku Abubakar, not a Yoruba or an Igbo president.

Even the worst among us rarely engage in such foolishness.

"Atiku's remarks are not only offensive, irresponsible, and nasty, but also unforgivable.

This is especially true given that by next year we will have been under Northern/Fulani rule for 8 years, and this man now demands that we continue it for another 8 years since it is what is 'best for the North.

The majority of Northerners, unlike Atiku and the divided members of his party, do not hold Southerners to be slaves and, luckily, do not hold us all to be less than equal.

"We won't let Atiku harm Nigeria the way he injured Wike.

"We won't be tricked or ignored.

"The vast majority of people in the North, and undoubtedly all Northerners in the APC, agree that it is time for power to go to the South."
