Policewoman Reveals How She Was Brutalised By Professor Duke Abiola

The police officer who was attacked by Professor Zainab Duke Abiola on Tuesday, Inspector Teju Moses, has spoken out about her encounter with the lawyer.

On Wednesday, the Nigeria Police Force reported that the perpetrators, including Duke Abiola, had been taken into custody.

According to FIJ, the policewoman claimed that Mrs. Abiola's terrible encounter with her did not begin on the day that she was violated.

I am Inspector Teju Moses, working with Professor Dike Zainab in Area 11, she remarked. She asked me to open the gate yesterday after I assisted her in carrying her belongings to the car. However, I informed her that since it was raining and I was wearing a uniform, I was unable to open the gate.

She instructed me to help a staff member open the gate, but I reminded her that I was in uniform and that it was raining before she moved on. She continued by asking why I would respond to her in that manner, claiming that it was a question. So I remained silent.

"When we arrived to the court, she instructed me to take all the paperwork provided and make sure I signed it. I informed her that I was unable to sign the documents because I was unsure of their contents. She stated that the police orderlies she had in the past had followed her instructions without challenging her. When I was on the court grounds, she started to call me names and suggested that she phone the Inspector General of Police to obtain a new orderly.

Moses stated that Abiola told the IGP's wife that she could treat her however she pleased and claimed to know her. The taunting continued until they returned to her home, according to Moses.

She instructed me to transport all of the carpets to be cleaned in the car the next morning. I told her that I was in uniform and could not do that. She questioned my obstinacy. She turned to me and said, "I glanced at your face and you looked gentle."

She kept repeating that she will handle me. I have interacted with senior officers. At any time, I can take your uniform off. I grade your tests," she stated. She continued to insult me by saying that my filthy boots had stained her car, Moses stated.

Moses stated that Abiola was advised not to drive with the professor in the car after she reported her to her neighbourhood police station.

"When I saw her at the gate, I walked to her house to retrieve my suitcase. She announced that she would see to it that I was stripped of my uniform while brandishing a piece of iron. She questioned, "You this witch, you think you are stubborn?"

She forbade me from going inside or getting my suitcase. Instead, she gave the go-ahead for her maid and another male employee to assault me. If the maid didn't hit me, she told the maid she would hit her instead. They chased me and hit me with what appeared to be a crowbar, according to Moses.

Moses claimed that as she cried out for help, others flocked to help.

According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, preliminary investigations have shown that Abiola and her domestic staff member were culpable.

According to FIJ, Usman Baba Alkali, the IGP, has reportedly commanded their "immediate prosecution."
