Nigerian guy in US arrested for killing his 30-year bestfriend over unpaid debt and left victim's son to die in a hot car.

A 38-year-old Nigerian man named Bolanle Fadairo has been detained by Houston police on suspicion of killing his fellow countryman and 30-year friend Michael Essien and abandoning the victim's 2-year-old son, Micah, to perish in a hot car in the Gulfton neighbourhood of southwest Houston.

After a dispute outside a strip mall in the 5500 block of El Camino Del Rey and Chimney Rock on Tuesday, September 20, Fadairo is charged with shooting 38-year-old Essien to death. 

Fadairo allegedly confessed to knowing Essien for over 30 years and even used the victim's address to receive mail, according to investigators.

(Fadairo) stated the argument started from (Essien) owing him money" court documents read.

The day of the shooting, according to the police, Fadairo met with Essien. An argument that developed between the two men led to Essien being shot by Fadairo, who then fled the scene in Essien's SUV with the victim's 2-year-old son still strapped into a car seat. The victim's wife alerted authorities that her husband and son were gone over five hours later.

A little more than a mile from the scene of the incident, the woman's ability to identify her husband's car helped lead to its finding. According to charging documents, the automobile was locked and the windows were rolled up since it was 93 degrees outside.

Although the boy's exact cause of death has not been determined, it is thought that he passed away from heat exhaustion. Jessie Okon, Essien's sister, and his wife also had a 5-year-old kid and a 1-week-old infant.

Michael never argued with anybody. Michael would take his shirt off and give to others. He gives his last dime to other people. All I need is my brother" Jessie said
