Zamfara governor ordered shoot-at-sight and a ban on okada.

On Monday, Zamfara State Governor Bello Mattawale enacted a ban on motorcycle use in Gusau town between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

He commanded the security staff to shoot at sight anyone found defying the new order.

The security council, according to the governor, took the action in response to information that bandits and other criminals were using motorbikes to carry out their nefarious activities in the state capital and its surroundings.

He declared: "Riding of motorbikes is henceforth prohibited from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. in all areas and the outskirts of Gusau town due to the recent invasion of bandits in several places on the outskirts of Gusau, the state capital.

Mareri, Damba, Tsunami, Tsauni, Barakallahu, Samaru, Gada Biyu, and Janyau East are some of these locations.

"Any motorbike rider who refuses to halt when told to do so by security authorities between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the outskirts of Gusau will be shot.

Meanwhile, the general public has been urged to exercise caution in their neighbourhoods and alert security officials to any unusual activity or movements in their neighbourhoods.

"The state government will not tolerate anyone upsetting the people's safety and peace," it says.

The Governor emphasised that the protection of citizens' lives and property was a fundamental responsibility of any administration.

In accordance with the laws of the land, "my administration is doing all humanly necessary to assure the fulfilment of this responsibility." Finally, Matawalle said.
