VIDEO: NYSC members sent to Kirikiri for assaulting policemen

The Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Institution in Apapa, Lagos, is now holding four citizens who were remanded there.

They go by the names Ehis Tito Odigie, a music producer who is 33 years old, and Miracle Onukuoforobi, an Igbinedion University student who is 27 years old.

Oyedeji Motunrayo, age 26, and Bolade Richard, age 31, all of whom are members of the corps, are among the other suspects.

On Tuesday, the four individuals were brought before the Magistrate Court in Ogba, and the hearing on their case was postponed until October 10, 2022.

According to the spokesman for the police department, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, they were taken to court for "severe assault" on officers.

During the course of the incident that was filmed, a group of citizens and agents got into a fight.

It appears that one of the accused is responsible for knocking off a police officer's cap, which he later recovered after it had fallen to the ground.

It was confirmed by the Lagos Command that both sides possessed video recordings, which were subsequently reviewed.

"The officers of the police department are also being questioned at this time. The investigation is still under way.

"If anyone, including members of the police, are found to be responsible, they will be held accountable," Hundeyin continued. "That much is certain."
