Tuchel: Conte should have been banned too

Antonio Conte received a one-game suspension for his role in the touchline altercations, but Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel feels that Conte should have been banished.

Even though Tuchel has filed an appeal against the one-game suspension, he anticipates not being able to watch Chelsea take on Leicester City in a Premier League game on Saturday.

After arguing twice with Conte during their teams' 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier this month, the former Paris Saint-Germain manager was also assessed a £35,000 ($41,000) punishment.

Conte, however, dodged a ban and received merely a £15,000 fine.

In his pre-game press conference on Friday, Tuchel said, "I think there are two sides to it. The one side is that I received a red card and I behaved in a way that isn't proper and I regret it.

But it wasn't violent, I guess it was just passionate. But I can live with a touchline ban if I receive a red card.

"The context—that I don't believe I started the aggression and that it started earlier—is difficult to swallow. And we were both issued a red card.

"And for a forceful handshake at the conclusion of the game, one coach gets suspended. This is very difficult for me to accept, but I must.

You will only hear a "no comment" from me in the future from the referees. Regardless of its size, this is undoubtedly what people desire.
