Thomas Tuchel, manager of Chelsea, has identified the type of player his squad must add this summer.
To strengthen his team's ageing defence, Tuchel claimed Chelsea must sign a player from a new 'generation.
Following Chelsea's Saturday 1-0 Premier League victory against Everton, the German made this statement.
Recall that Wesley Fofana, a 21-year-old defender for Leicester City, has been mentioned in connection with Chelsea.
Currently, the defence for Tuchel's team includes players like Kalidou Koulibaly, 31, Thiago Silva, 37, and César Azpilicueta, 32.
The trio made their debut in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League at Goodison Park.
After Chelsea overcame Everton, Tuchel told reporters, according to the Evening Standard, "It is a lot of experience, it's maybe another of age, it's a lot of experience and they have their quality and they know what they're doing."
The guys are strong, but we also need to ensure that a new generation is ready to take over in the coming years. They have a contract because of this, and we can trust the guys.
"[Balance] is necessary. I consider it essential. In general, the game is quite physically demanding. This is the circumstance. We already knew it.
"Thiago is still extremely important to us right now, and when we had the chance to sign Kalidou, we took it because we think he has some years left in him," said Azpi.
