The era of sending our kids overseas must end, says Peter Obi.

Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, has vowed to reverse the present trend of sending young people and children from Nigeria overseas due to a growing lack of possibilities there.

In Lagos on Tuesday, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, a former PDP candidate for governor, was officially welcomed into the Labour Party. Obi spoke at the event.

Obi claimed that the Labour Party's goal is to seize power and then return the nation to the people, noting that Brazil once had a similar situation with Nigeria but is now self-sufficient and exports agricultural goods.

He reaffirmed the party's objective, which is for the country to switch from consumption to production.

"The amount of productivity within a nation, not its landmass, determines its riches. Let's go out and produce since Nigeria is not a producing country. Prayer is insufficient; we also need to work.

"We oppose Nigerian parents keeping their kids in Canada. No Canadian parents send their kids here. Parents in Nigeria today ship their kids abroad while living alone in empty homes.

We must turn it around. We have to send our kids back. The country needs to be stable and safe for everyone if we are to alter it.

People still believe that things will proceed as usual, yet We have to change it.

He promised Ozigbo and his supporters that the Labour Party would treat them equally.

Julius Abure, chairman of the Labour Party, also spoke while welcoming the new members and stated that only individuals with integrity and something to contribute should join the party.

"Wise individuals with moral character and skill are the ones driving the Obi movement. Ozigbo meets these requirements.

He satisfies our requirements for membership in our party. "Today's inflation rate is 19.5%. This country has to be saved. Ozigbo has joined the fight to save the country, the speaker claimed.

Ozigbo and his party supporters received the assurances of a level playing field and equal opportunity from the party leadership.

The path for the liberation of Nigeria has now begun, he added, adding that you have equal standing with other members and are eligible for all rights.

Ozigbo spoke on behalf of himself and his followers, expressing happiness at joining the party. He said that the action was just intended to formalise past efforts.
