PDP disclaims any responsibility for the attack on Oyetola's wife's convoy.

The Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has denied any role in the attack on Kafayat Oyetola, the state's first lady, and her convoy.

The PUNCH had previously reported that the convoy had been ambushed on Friday in the state's Owode region, injuring several of the First Lady's assistants.

However, according to a statement from the Osun PDP, Mrs. Oyetola's guard knocked up a truck driver whose car was blocking the road and that is what started the attack.

The Osun PDP Media Director, Oladele Bamiji, said this in a statement on Saturday under the heading "How First Lady's Escorts Beat Up Truck Driver, Sparking Public Reaction-Osun PDP."

"We are astonished to hear this morning's report on the fruitless attempt by the office of the outgoing First Lady to hide the reckless behaviour of her escort who beat up a truck driver near Owode, sparking public outrage against her entire convoy," the statement stated.

Eyewitness reports indicate that yesterday was Owode Ede market day, thus the route was as predicted busy.

"A truck had a problem smack in the centre of the road, and the driver was trying to fix it.

The First Lady's convoy arrived at the scene at that point, and instead of assisting in resolving the traffic jam, the security personnel around the First Lady attacked the truck driver and beat him into a stupor.

"Realizing the outcome of their criminal misadventure, the operatives rushed the driver to the hospital after the former had slumped," Wike tells the PDP.

"Shun Rivers votes, lose the election. At this moment, the marketgoers responded angrily, throwing rocks and other objects at the convoy.

Eyewitness sources further claimed that before reinforcements from Government House arrived at the site with intermittent gunfire, the irate mob had no idea who was in the vehicle at the time it was attacked.

"We have provided this much information about the incident in order to vehemently refute claims that PDP thugs were behind the self-inflicted attacks on the First Lady's convoy.

As a party, we don't have Asiri Eniba or Rashid Oko Ilu, who were actively supported before, during, and after the election by the First Lady's family.

The First Lady's party recklessly wrecked the economy, and the PDP is a people's party whose members will never persecute and abuse defenceless folks whose only transgression was to meet their basic needs.

"We want the First Lady to express regret to the truck driver who suffered cruel treatment. Sending him to the hospital right away is insufficient.

Unless she was the one who gave the order to beat up the innocent driver, the First Lady should atone for the transgressions of his overzealous escorts.

"Instead of blaming the PDP, we urge members of the departing administration to take care in how they interact with Osun state's residents.

Our people have been mistreated by a government that is obviously inhuman, suffering from severe economic hardships.

When a First Lady and her crew attack a person and then turn around and accuse the opposition, it is wrong and repugnant.
