Ex-veterinary college registrar found guilty by court for receiving double pay for 11 years.

The former registrar of the Federal College of Veterinary Medical Laboratory Technology, Vom, Muhammad Amburs, was ordered on Thursday by a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, to reimburse the Federal Government for the wages he received during his 11 years of illegal employment.

The convict was found guilty on both counts of knowingly making a false statement to the management of the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), in which he falsely claimed a linkage of service of his employment from the National Judiciary Institute to the Kebbi Judiciary Commission in 2003, and Justice Christine Dabup, the presiding judge, issued the order.

She stated that the Corrupt Practices and Other Offenses Act, 2000's Section 25 (1)(b) governs the punishment for the crime.

According to Dabup, the defendant must pay a fine of N100,000 or serve six months in a detention facility if they fail to do so for count one.

For the count two charge, she added that the offender must pay a fine of N50,000 or spend one month in jail.

The defence lawyer, Eise Hassan, said that his client would cover the penalty.

He continued by saying that he will get the court's action paperwork.
