Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, two Nollywood actresses who were recently kidnapped in Enugu State, have been freed.
Their release has been confirmed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria, according to a statement from Monalisa Chinda Coker, the organization's director of communication.
According to Monalisa, the actors were freed because they had been "touched by the spirit of God."
The Guild advised actors to check that there was enough protection in place while on site.
The following is an excerpt from the statement: "This is to tell the public that the actors Cynthia Okereke and Clemson Cornel, who were kidnapped, have been freed, unharmed.
Ejezie Rollas, the Actors Guild of Nigeria's National President, confirmed their release by the kidnappers, who had been moved by the spirit of God to free them and leave them unhurt.
"The guild has arranged for the victims' medical examinations and psychological support.
He reminded the group's participants to exercise vigilance both on and off the sets of movies and to constantly take security precautions.
Last week, Okereke and Agbodigidi were kidnapped in Enugu State.
The kidnappers had asked for a $100,000 ransom.
