Gunmen assaulted the Kogi state's Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA), murdering some police officers and kidnapping 14 Indians.
The attack, which took place on Friday night, resulted in the deaths of at least two police officers.
The Kogi state administration responded to the event by saying they were collaborating closely with security forces to achieve the release of individuals who had been kidnapped.
According to Willaim Ovye Aya, the spokesman for the Kogi police command, security has been stepped up across the state as a result of recent attacks by gunmen on many communities.
We acknowledge that some cowards may occasionally try to foil our efforts, even as we activate dynamism in our security architecture and strategy.
In these situations, our standard procedure has been to hunt out the offenders, catch them, and prosecute them.
"Our administration has broadened our security net in working with the traditional security agencies and local vigilante groups to ensure the abducted children are rescued alive and the cowards who abducted them are brought to book," said the State Government as soon as the unfortunate report was brought to their attention.
"In Kogi State, every person's life is important. The Kogi State Governor and the government are aware that safeguarding the lives and property of the populace is the top priority of the state. The Kogi State Government won't ever avoid this duty.
"As much as we would like not to share all the details of the ongoing efforts to save the children from harm, which we are confident will be successful very soon, we want to reassure Kogi citizens that the government will continue to be diligent in ensuring their safety.
We will keep collaborating with security organisations to maintain our enviable ranking as the nation's safest state at the moment.
"We kindly request the residents of Ajaokuta and Kogi State in general to carry on with their daily activities as usual. Strict security measures have been put in place to ensure everyone's safety.
The government will use every available tool to guarantee that our beloved children are saved alive and unharmed.
The state's security chiefs and local vigilante groups are working together with the governor personally to coordinate the rescue operations.
To get results, there has already been a significant deployment to the area, according to the statement.
