Oregon 2022: Amusan celebrates world title.

After winning the gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America, Oluwatobiloba Amusan of Nigeria is giddy with joy.

Amusan, 25, coasted to victory with a time of 12.06 seconds, becoming the first African and Nigerian to win the event's gold medal.

If not for the excessive wind, it would have been her second World Record (WR) of the day.

Earlier, in the semifinal, the athlete from Ogun State broke the previous World Record with a time of 12.22s.

Britany Anderson of Jamaica finished second in 12.23 seconds, while Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, the Olympic champion, had to settle for bronze in the same time.

After accomplishing her remarkable feat, Amusan exclaimed, "I couldn't be more thankful. I have come out here with a win and the World Record.

Ese Brume, a close friend of hers, added to the day's significance for Nigeria by winning the silver medal in the women's long jump.
