Air Vice Marshal Frank Ajobena (rtd), the first military administrator of Abia State and a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has left the organisation.
Ajobena left the APC because Bola Tinubu, the party's presidential nominee, decided to run on a Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The Muslim-Muslim party ticket, according to the APC National Caucus member, has "the highest level of insensitivity to the Christian faith in the country."
Ajobena claimed Tinubu disrespected the nation's Christians in a statement on Tuesday.
He emphasised that Tinubu's behaviour demonstrated how easily APC members might be bribed with cash.
Part of the declaration states, "Tinubu is not my opponent, and I am not against him. Let's call a spade a spade, though. Even though I like the APC, it is not in my character to be a double agent. I am not acting; the right thing to do should be done.
"The move could be seen as one that shows haughtiness and complete disregard for the APC's Christian members.
"Such a move is detrimental to our democracy.
I'm quitting because "a man must stand for something in order to fall for anything."
Kashim Shettima, the former governor of Borno State, has been named Tinubu's running mate over the weekend.
