Murder:Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari reacted to the killing of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

President Muhammadu Buhari sent his sympathies to the Shinzo Abe family, the former prime minister of Japan.

The President also expressed sympathy to the Japanese government and people on the murder of Abe.

A speech given by the lawmaker on Friday morning in advance of Sunday's parliamentary election was interrupted by gunfire.

Buhari assured the family of the prayers and condolences of all Nigerians, praising Japan's longest-serving PM as a great leader.

According to him, Abe will be remembered for his dedication to promoting commerce and investment between Japan and Africa through a number of projects.

The President recalled how Abe used the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) as a vehicle for forming alliances.

The two nations "enjoyed a strategic collaboration under Abe, supporting each other's shared ambitions on economic cooperation, healthcare, human resource development, catastrophe risk reduction, peace, and security," he said.

Buhari prayed that his country and the people "whom he served so devotedly" will be blessed in the memory of the departed.
