Just In: Buhari govt plans to outlaw Okada in Nigeria

Due to the fact that terrorists are still acting in Nigeria, the Federal Government is thinking about putting a stop to the use of Okada motorcycles for business and mining in the country.

Abubakar Malami, who is both the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the Minister of Justice, said that the measure would stop terrorists and bandits in Nigeria from getting money.

Malami spoke to State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, after President Muhammadu Buhari led a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC).

Rauf Aregbesola and Mohammed Dingyadi, who were also ministers of the interior and police, stood on either side of him.

Malami said that the meeting was mostly about how terrorists run their operations and how to stop them.

He said that the government needed to do something because terrorists were no longer using the usual ways to pay for their activities. Instead, they were using mining and kidnapping to make money.

Malami said that the bandits used the motorcycles to get around, and that the money they made from mining helped them buy weapons.
