Just In: A Bill That Allows Individuals And States To generate and Supply Electricity Has Been Passed By The Senate.

The Electricity Bill 2022, which permits states and private citizens to produce and distribute electricity, was approved by the Senate on Wednesday.

"Since electricity is on the concurrent list in the constitution, the law has permitted state governments to licence those who seek to operate mini-grids within the states," said Senator Gabriel Suswam (PDP, Benue), the chairman of the senate committee.

"The bill also provides legal support for green energy," he stated. It is also allowed for you to choose to use solar energy to produce one megawatt of power.
