On Tuesday, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) warned Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP's presidential candidate, from equating their struggle with Peter Obi of the Labour Party's campaign for the presidency.
According to IPOB, Obi is not one of its members and has never advocated for the cause of self-determination; as a result, Kwankwaso should stop making these linkages.
The spokesperson for IPOB, Emma Powerful, stated that the organisation is uninterested in the Nigerian election process.
"The global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the command and leadership of our great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to advise Rabiu Kwankwoso, the former governor of Kano State, not to involve IPOB in the selection process they call an election in Nigeria," reads a statement from Powerful.
"Nigeria's politicians should stop equating IPOB with Peter Obi's political aspirations and campaign, and Kwankwaso in particular.
Peter Obi is not a member of IPOB and has never supported our movement for independence because he has entirely different objectives from the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Nigeria's morally bankrupt and utterly corrupt political structure and environment are uninteresting to us.
Kwankwaso should go forward and settle his differences and stop attributing IPOB to their issue if he feels threatened by the Labour party and Peter Obi's rabid support from the talented and creative but downtrodden, neglected, deceived, deprived, killed (Endsars) Nigerian youths from even the North.
"IPOB is not interested in the pointless politics you engage in in Nigeria. We do not consider election-related acts of robbery, fraud, and selection to be elections. Perhaps Kwankwaso is hiding something from the public.
Instead of acknowledging the reality that, as a Fulani with a "born to rule attitude," he cannot compete for the presidency with a Southern Christian, he has the audacity to equate our revered liberation movement with the dishonest muddy waters of the Zoo politics.
"IPOB is not worried with the electoral waves; we have never demanded or expressed anything that is in opposition to our purpose and desire. A referendum is what we require, and one must be held.
As far as our liberty and freedom are concerned, there is no middle ground for us as a people.
Therefore, no one can influence our determination to achieve our stated objective, the restoration of Biafra.
You should feel non-Northerners' pulses when they helplessly tag along with you guys to determine the sensitivity of their annoyances and the pounding of their hearts in silent prayers for safety.
"If there is a region to avoid due to criminality with Terrorism, it is Northern Nigeria which sponsors several terrorist groups as joint venture partners and recycles them in the military and ministries."
Powerful repeated IPOB's push for a Southeast referendum in accordance with UN requirements.
"Peter Obi is not a part of IPOB, and he is not agitating for or supporting our struggle for self-determination. Why link him to IPOB's fight for independence? Peter Obi is unknown to IPOB based on our biodata bank.
Our demand is for the exercise of our unalienable right to self-determination, which we pursue through the UN Charter's *REFERENDUM*, an internationally recognised and acknowledged democratic procedure.
Since we are not politicians and have no shared interests, IPOB wishes to use this platform and chance to caution all Nigerian politicians against associating IPOB with their politics and hiring practises. We are defenders of freedom, he continued.
