Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reiterated that he didn't reject Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State.
Atiku made this statement in response to the debate about his selection of Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate and the rationale for his decision to reject Wike.
In an interview with Arise TV on Friday morning, Atiku claimed that he had only chosen the people who he thought could deliver.
"I didn't reject Wike, I chose who can deliver," he declared. Wike is tenacious and clever.
According to precedent, I chose an Igbo as my running companion in 2007. Even so, I chose an Igbo to be my running mate in 2023.
"Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom served as the chair of the committee that proposed the three nominees. I choose one of the three people they suggested. People ought to be truthful and fair to me.
Atiku stated that the party was in communication with the governor over the prospect of addressing difficulties with Wike.
We are speaking to Wike and will soon find a solution to our internal problems.
"I've run for president a few times, and I don't try to point fingers; I either accept the result or I go to court," Atiku continued.
