2023: Group pledges to fund Atiku's campaign

Under the auspices of Democracy Vanguard of Nigeria in Diaspora, a group of Nigerians in the diaspora committed to raise money to support PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in realising his goal of winning the general elections in 2023.

The group justified its behaviour by arguing that Atiku's presidency will usher in a democratic period and provide young progressive minds like theirs the opportunity to seek for political office in the future.

Ademola Adeleke of the PDP won the governor's race in Osun on Saturday, and Atiku, who watched the results, called the victory a "shining light" for the state's residents.

Adeleke won the 2022 governorship election with 403,371 votes, defeating the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Adegboyega Oyetola, who received 375,027 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Atiku has historically been one of the few political figures whose actions and words have shown a grasp of Nigeria's pervasive problems, according to a statement released on Monday by DVND President Timothy Sule.

A portion of the statement stated, "To this end, we have chosen to mobilise our family members back home to obtain their PVCs and go out in huge numbers to exercise their franchise in order to guarantee a safer, more cohesive, and prosperous society.

We also today pledge to raise the necessary cash to support this effort in the hopes of one day returning to a nation that is safer, more cohesive, and wealthy.

"We residents of other nations share Atiku's vision of an all-inclusive agenda, and this is an exhilarating certainty. We are aware that with the kind of leadership he will provide, the institutions in charge of the same will guarantee our ability to vote as early as 2027. We are aware that where there is a will, there will always be a way.

For the avoidance of doubt, we are ensuring that everyone here "matches their desires with actions to the fulfilment of a Nigeria of our dreams" despite the fact that we are numerous.

Sule expressed excitement over the emergence of the former vice president and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the PDP's presidential candidate and running mate, respectively. Sule characterised the former vice president as a unifier and bridge-builder.

Despite this, he remained optimistic about their ticket's ability to increase the likelihood that Nigerians living abroad will begin casting ballots in national elections as early as 2027.

We express our heartfelt congratulations to each presidential candidate and their running mates on their selection to represent their respective political parties in the 2023 presidential election, Sule added.

We declare that Atiku and Okowa's selection as the Vice Presidential candidate "goes to demonstrate the ability of the duo to immediately set to work in unifying the various cracks in the Nigerian polity, the reframing of the security architecture to stem the nightmare bloodletting has been witnessed in all zones of the country, rejig the political structure and devolve more power and resources to the states and local governments; lead a charge in the revolutionary

We are especially enthusiastic about the Atiku-Okowa ticket because the two men have continuously demonstrated a dedication to a united and flourishing Nigeria where citizens, regardless of their creed, tribe, or dialect, are not discriminated against.
