Owo Massacre: Osun State Amotekun Deploys Troops To Mosques And Churches Around The State.

Following the shooting incident at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State on Sunday, June 5, 2022, which claimed the lives of several worshippers, the Osun Amotekun Corps has deployed its troops to guard churches and mosques throughout the state.

According to a statement made available to Sources on Sunday by Yusuf Idowu, the Osun Amotekun Spokesperson, the action is aimed at guaranteeing appropriate security for all citizens of the state.

The Osun Amotekun spokesperson also indicated that one of the goals of the action was to improve the state's security apparatus and protect citizens' lives and property from criminal activity.

"The corps will continue to employ proactive security tactics in the face of any security danger that may arise in the state."

"A sufficient number of people had been deployed to provide protection for the state's churches and mosques.

"We're also on the lookout for any security risks around the state."

"We will continue to devise comprehensive security measures that will enable us to catch all types of offenders throughout the state."

"We have sent corps to all churches and mosques in every nook and cranny of the State to protect our people from criminal attacks," the official stated.

While pushing locals to offer timely information that might aid the corps in apprehending criminal elements, they also informed them that there was no need to be concerned.

Meanwhile, the government of Osun State has pledged to do all necessary to strengthen the Amotekun regional security network.

Adegboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun State, said this on Sunday while paying a condolence visit to Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State.

The purpose of the visit was to express condolences to the people of Ondo following the terrorist attack on Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo.

During the visit, the governor of Osun stated that no effort will be spared to reinforce the southwest region's security architecture.

The visit was made in the spirit of unity and brotherhood, according to Oyetola, who had previously released a condolence message following the incident.

Governor Oyetola described the attack as "cruel, brutal, and terrible," and said it served as a wake-up call for officials to refocus security efforts in the region to improve efficiency and efficacy.

Recall that on Sunday morning, June 5, 2022, unidentified gunmen stormed Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo, killing numerous worshippers and injuring many more.
