The minister issued the order during the NSCDC's decoration of five Deputy Commandant-Generals.
Aregbesola urged the NSCDC to play direct roles rather than complementary ones in confronting bandits and terrorists, according to NSCDC spokesman Olusola Odumosu on Wednesday in Abuja.
"I order you to use everything you have against the perpetrators of the Owo church attack."
"Play a direct role, not a supporting role, in catching criminals and bringing them to justice by collaborating with other security agencies."
"Given the level of training you've received both locally and internationally," the minister told Odumoseu, "you have no excuse whatsoever not to perform."
Aregbesola stated that there was a pressing need to put a stop to crime in the country and advocated for the use of "grassroots intelligence gathering" to secure the country.
NSCDC Commandant-General Ahmed Audi assured the minister of the corps' readiness to combat insecurity in collaboration with other security agencies during his remarks at the event.
"The service will not let the Ministry of Interior and, by extension, the Federal Republic of Nigeria down," he promised.
Audi expressed gratitude to the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board for promoting senior officers.
He challenged the decorated DCGs to raise their game in order to achieve the Corps' vision and mission.
