On Sunday, an attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, was described by some eyewitnesses.
Taiwo, one of them, claimed he was nearing the church when he saw the people fleeing and had to come to a halt.
He went on to say that he could only see the attackers, who were four men, getting into a green Volkswagen automobile.
"I discovered the shooters abandoned their vehicle and ran," he alleged, adding that some Amotekun Corps members arriving in their vehicles gave the hoodlums a furious chase.

When the hoodlums started shooting, the congregation was caught off guard, according to another eyewitness.
Some attendees fled to avoid being shot, he said, as the attackers tossed dynamites inside the church, blowing the altar apart.
He reported that when the shooters opened fire, the chapel was packed, with around 500 people inside.
During the service, the gunmen allegedly used dynamite to blow up the church's altar, causing part of it to cave in while the gunmen shot numerous people.
