Organ Harvesting: Ekweremadu sues the NIS and NIMC to court.

Ike Ekweremadu, a former vice-president of the senate, and his wife Beatrice have filed a lawsuit against the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and others over the age-related scandal involving David Ukpo.

The Comptroller General (C-G), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Stanbic-IBTC Bank, United Bank of Africa (UBA), and Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc are also cited in the lawsuit as the second through fifth respondents, respectively.

Recall that Ekweremadu and his wife were tried before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court on Thursday and were subsequently remanded in UK police custody for alleged conspiracies to enable the flight of Ukpo, who was allegedly a juvenile, for the purpose of organ harvesting.

The pair, however, refuted the accusations, and the court continued the trial to July 7.

However, the Ekweremadus requested an order directing the NIMC to give them a Certified True Copy (CTC) of David Nwamini Ukpo's biodata information in an originating summons with the following designation: FHC/ABJ/CS/984/2022, dated and filed before Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court, Abuja, on June 27.

The applicants demanded that the agency produce Ukpo's National Identification Number (NIN), 19438077110, in order to facilitate the criminal investigation and tender it as evidence of their innocence with regard to Ukpo's age in the criminal charges brought against them before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court.

Additionally, they requested a court order telling the NIS C-G to give the applicants access to David Nwamini Ukpo's paperwork and application form, which were in the 2nd respondent's possession and were submitted for the issuance of an international passport with the number BO0569974 in order to aid in criminal investigations. This request was made before the Uxbridge Magistrate Court in the UK until July 7, where the applicants were allegedly charged with a crime.

According to the applicant's attorney, the records that are reportedly being requested will help the applicants defend themselves and prove their innocence of the allegations in the interests of justice.

Additionally, Ukpo informed the couple that he was 21 years old, having been born in the year 2000, and was prepared to assist Sonia, according to Bright Ekweremadu, the lawmaker's elder brother, in the affidavit to which he deposed.

The suit will be heard on July 1 as set by Justice Ekwo.
