Ndigbo: Igbo youths have given Lagos a seven-day deadline to apologise for the onslaught on Ndigbo.

COSEYL, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, has given the Lagos State Government a seven-day deadline to apologise to southeast indigenes who were recently attacked in the state.

The DAILY POST remembers that a minor incident occurred on Thursday at Alaba International Market in Ojo, Lagos, when hoodlums allegedly attacked some Igbo shopkeepers who had closed their stores to register for the Permanent Voters Card, or PVC.

Concerned Nigerians have claimed that some political actors are behind the attack, claiming that their goal is to disenfranchise the Igbos.

In response, COSEYL's President General, Goodluck Ibem, released a statement warning against such attacks, stating the insults directed at Igbos in the state must end.

The coalition also requested that the attackers be apprehended and prosecuted immediately, claiming that the act plainly reflected a security problem in the state.

"We warn those thugs and their backers not to dare such an attack on Igbo traders again, or they would face a similar reprisal," the statement reads in part. Nobody owns the right to use violence. Enough with the denigration of Ndigbo.

"Within the next seven days, we want an apology from Ndigbo to Ndigbo. Enough with the words!
