Akeem Omolade, a former Torino striker from Nigeria, was discovered dead in his automobile in Italy just days after complaining of leg pain.

On Monday, June 13, emergency services discovered him motionless in a Peugeot in Palermo, Sicily's capital.

There were no evident exterior injuries at the time of the initial inspection. Omolade's relatives claimed that the Kaduna native had complained of leg discomfort a few days prior.

Between 2001 and 2003, the Nigerian made five appearances for the Maroons in Serie A, Italy's premier level.

Before retiring in 2017, Omolade also played for 11 other clubs in Italy, including Treviso, Novara, and Reggiana.

'President Urbano Cairo and all of Torino Football Club truly share the Omolade family's grief at the demise of our former player Akeem Omolade,' Torino said in a statement.

'Signed from Treviso, he began his career with the youth team before moving up to the first team, making his Serie A debut against Inter Milan on February 2, 2003.

'The entire Torino family expresses its heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, parents, and numerous friends.'

After being targeted by a section of the club's players, Omolade spoke out against racism.
