I'm glad you're a still Prime Minister- Zelensky congratulates Boris Johnson impeachment survival.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, has expressed his delight that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had survived an impeachment attempt.

Despite a huge mutiny in which 148 of his own Tory MPs voted to remove him, Johnson won a confidence vote on Monday, June 6.

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Johnson has developed a tight friendship with President Zelensky.

The United Kingdom was one of the first countries to give weaponry to Ukraine's defence forces, and it, like its Western partners, has slapped broad sanctions on Russia's government and oligarchs.

On a visit to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv in April, Mr Johnson offered "unwavering support" and went on an unscheduled walking tour of the city with President Zelensky.

In response to Johnson's impeachment survival, Zelensky commented on Tuesday:

"I'm delighted we didn't lose a key ally; this is fantastic news," Zelensky remarked at an online event.

In an interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday, he described Mr Johnson as a "genuine friend of Ukraine" and a "concrete" supporter.

So far, the UK has spent £750 million on military aid to Ukraine, which includes thousands of anti-tank missiles, 20 armoured vehicles, 4.5 tonnes of plastic explosives, and electronic warfare equipment.

In addition, the UK has announced that it will provide £220 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
