EGOT: Hudson becomes the 17th person in history to achieve an EGOT by emerging winner of TONY.

Jennifer Hudson's Tony Award for producing "A Strange Loop" has added her name to the list of EGOT winners.

Individuals who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award during their careers in the entertainment industry are known as EGOTs.
Rita Moreno, Alan Menken, Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Legend, Mike Nichols, Mel Brooks, and Whoopi Goldberg are among the notable personalities who have won awards from all four award boards.

Prior to Friday night's Tony Awards, only 16 people in history have won an EGOT in a competitive category.

Hudson is now the 17th person in history to obtain the EGOT.

Hudson's Oscar award in the category of best supporting actress for her role in 2006's "Dreamgirls" was the first step toward obtaining the EGOT.

Then she won two Grammys for performing, one for best musical theatre album for "The Color Purple" in 2017 and another for best R&B album for her self-titled album in 2009, as well as a Daytime Emmy for producing the virtual reality film "Baba Yaga."
