President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to appoint Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) today, barring any last-minute changes to the schedule.
This comes after Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad's resignation due to health issues.
The senior Supreme Court justice at the moment is Justice Ariwoola.
Sources within the presidency predict that he will take the oath of office at 2 p.m. today.
Justice Ariwoola, who was born on August 22, 1958, formerly served as a Justice of the Court of Appeals before being promoted to the Supreme Court bench.
