Breaking: After breaking into an Ibadan home, a 7-year-old child made rice and ate all the meat in a pot, before stealing two phones and N4,000 in cash.

A primary one student in Ibadan, Oyo State, aged seven was apprehended after breaking into a residence in the Olomi neighbourhood and stealing two phones and N4,000.

The youngster also prepared rice, consumed all of the meat in the pot, and drank milk he discovered around the house, according to Nigerian Tribune.

According to reports, the child used a key to unlock a padlock on the door of Mrs. Adijat Fatai's chamber.

He is alleged to have entered the woman's wardrobe, rifled through her items, and taken two mobile phones and the N4,000 she had stored there.

The youngster also went to the chamber of the younger wife, but he was unable to discover anything to steal.

He allegedly went to the kitchen, cooked rice in a kettle with camp gas, and devoured every piece of meat he discovered in the pot.

He reportedly drank the milk he also discovered after the first meal and then started to prepare rice once more.

According to reports, he left the elderly woman's home after leaving the phones with a neighbour and promising to return. This was in response to her question about how the phones got there.

The rice he set on fire by the time he went back to his workplace was burned, but that did not stop him from devouring the leftovers.

When he heard footsteps, he is claimed to have been on this and immediately raced to the backyard.

When the child was questioned after being apprehended last Thursday, June 23, he admitted to giving his grandmother N2,000 that he had stolen.

He also acknowledged using a cutlass to open the front door, cooking the rice twice, drinking milk, and leaving the house after giving his grandmother the N2000.

The child explained, "Unfortunately, one of the people staying in the house met me there, but I fabricated a falsehood that it was a boy who came there to steal.

Before I was apprehended today (Thursday), I had broken into four houses in the previous two days, he said.

Mrs. Adijat Fatai, whose room the suspect broke into, asserted that he took N4,000 from there rather than N2000 as he stated.

The youngster ran to the backyard when he heard footsteps, according to Musibau, one of Mr. Hassan Fatai's sons whose home was broken into.

We encountered him in the backyard with all doors open. He said that a boy entered the house when questioned about who did so. He took us somewhere, claimed to know the boy, but there was no one there.

He once more informed us that he was aware of the location of the boy's flask, which contained the cooked rice. He led the way there and produced the flask.

"If he sees the boy, he has vowed to bring him to us. We began to suspect that he must be aware of the theft and housebreaking.

We informed him that we thought he was guilty and that the police would be notified. He began admitting that he was the one who broke in in this manner."

Olusegun Idowu, the vigilante commandant of Oluyole Local Government, told Tribune that he and his men had been looking for the boy's father, Ahmed Rasheed, who had reportedly made the remark to a rider of a business motorcycle.

Rasheed allegedly signed a document promising to remove his son from the neighbourhood after being informed of his son's misdemeanour.

He also allegedly agreed that the law should be followed if he refuses to care for his son or if he returns to the neighbourhood to commit another act of theft.

The victims said that because of his age and because they didn't want to waste time and money pursuing the matter with the police, they decided not to report him to the police.
