Troost-Ekong praises NPFL players after Super Eagles loss to Mexico.

William Troost-Ekong, a defender for the Super Eagles, has offered an explanation for the team's 2-1 loss to Mexico in a friendly match at AT&T Stadium in Texas, United States, on Sunday.

Due to long journeys by several of the players from their base in Europe and Nigeria, Jose Peseiro's team had limited time to prepare for the game.

Due to visa issues and injuries, some regular members of the team had to withdraw from the games.

Despite their defeats, the Super Eagles put forth a good showing throughout the contest.

Troost-Ekong, who plays for Watford in the Sky Bet Championship, was a part of the team's defeat to the El Tri.

"We were disappointed to lose to Mexico because everyone put in a lot of effort." Thenff.com spoke with Troost-Ekong.

"We were all hampered by the long flight and lack of time to adjust to the new zone in the first half, but we generated a slew of chances in the second half and were unlucky to lose."

"However, we've learned a lot from the game, and they'll come in handy in future matchups."

Troost-Ekong praised the four home-based pros who were handed opportunities in the second half, praising their work ethic and confidence against the El Tri.

"Everyone has been fantastic here, with a positive attitude and quick response to training," he continued.

"However, I must single out the Nigeria Professional Football League teammates who have displayed poise, pace, and strength, as well as commitment; their attitude and performance have undoubtedly boosted the NPFL's profile."
