Zamfara's village chief and 19 other residents killed in an ambush by bandits.

Bandits raided Ganar-Kiyawa hamlet in Adabka District, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State, killing around 20 people.

The village chief is among those who have been killed. According to Channels Television, the attack happened around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 20. The robbers also assaulted some nearby villages, plundered shops, and took some goods with them.

Communities in the Adabka ward have been subjected to a series of bandit raids and kidnappings, according to a source in the area who requested anonymity.

He explained;

“Today’s (Sunday) attack was a major one; they have been coming almost on daily basis to abduct people, majorly women, and children”

Residents of Ganar Kiyawa have been sleeping in the forest for fear of being assaulted by bandits in their homes, according to the source, who also claimed that the military is only stationed in Adabka and Gwashi town, leaving other villages vulnerable to bandit attacks.

He went on to say;

There aren't enough security agencies to undertake a campaign in all of the surrounding villages." In Adabka town and Gwashi, the only places where we have a military presence are the main towns. Because the security forces have left all other villages unprotected, these individuals (bandits) are free to roam the countryside at their leisure and target whoever they choose.
