Vladimir Putin has been removed as Honorary President of the International Judo Federation.
The International Judo Federation has suspended Russian President Vladimir Putin as honorary president (IJF).
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the IJF announced the suspension on Sunday, February 27.
As a result, Putin's most senior official position in world sport has been temporarily vacated.
"In light of the ongoing war conflict in Ukraine, the International Judo Federation announces the suspension of Mr Vladimir Putin's status as Honorary President and Ambassador of the International Judo Federation," the IJF said in a statement posted online.
