Russia-Ukraine War: Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, is in talks for a peaceful resolution.

In the wake of global outrage over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is attempting to broker a deal to end the conflict.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Abramovich is already in Belarus, where Russian and Ukrainian delegations will meet later Monday in the border town of Gomel.

Abramovich is thought to have arrived in Ukraine ahead of crucial talks between Ukrainian and Russian officials.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Russian-Israeli billionaire has been under pressure to speak out.

In the Ukrainian Parliament, there have also been calls for the 55-year-old businessman to be sanctioned as a major oligarch "with ties to the Russian State."

However, Abramovich vehemently denies any ties to the Kremlin or any actions that would warrant sanctions against him.

Abramovich announced plans to hand over the stewardship of his club Chelsea to the Blues' charitable trust on Saturday, amid mounting pressure.

A spokesman for Chelsea has now revealed that Abramovich has been 'trying to help' in brokering a peace deal, in an unexpected move.

"I can confirm that the Ukrainian side approached Roman Abramovich for assistance in reaching a peaceful resolution, and he has been trying to assist ever since," a Chelsea spokesman said.
