FCT Council polls: PDP intends to take APC's victory to court.

In the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja's February 12th council election, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will contest the All Progressives Congress, APC's victory in three council areas: Kwali, Abaji, and Gwagwalada.

Governor Samuel Ortom, who served as chairman of the PDP Campaign Committee Council for the FCT election, made the announcement on Monday, February 21st, 2022, at the Benue Peoples House in Makurdi, when he welcomed the Jemgbagh PDP Elders' Forum, which was led by Barrister Samuel Tsumba.

The Governor informed the delegation that a Jemgbagh native, Chief Sabastine Hon, SAN, had been hired as lead counsel for the PDP in order to reclaim the party's mandate in the other three council areas where the results were marred by high-level anomalies.

He said that the PDP's victory in three council areas – Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Bwari, and Kuje – as well as 44 councilorship positions against the APC's 18 councilorship slots, showed that the opposition rigged the council election.

Governor Ortom was especially pleased that Dr Iyorchia Ayu, a son of Jemgbagh and the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led the party to victory in the state capital, describing him as a round peg in a round hole.

The Governor, who was born and reared in Gboko, described Jemgbagh as his second home, noting that he had to return his late father's landed property in the area as a token of respect to people who raised him.

Barrister Samuel Tsumba, Chairman of the Jemgbagh PDP Elders' Forum, said their visit was to thank the Governor for the numerous wonderful things he had done for Jemgbagh, including the implementation of projects and appointments.

He also expressed gratitude for Governor Samuel Ortom's recent support for his son, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, becoming the PDP's National Chairman.
