The mangled and buried body of a missing Lagos mother of two has been recovered.

Her death was announced in December 2021. Mercy Henry, the mother of two who went missing in Lagos state in December of that year, has been found dead.

When Mercy left her home on December 16 to see a doctor in Ijegun, a suburb in Lagos state, she didn't come back. She didn't come home on the day she said she would, leaving her family in total disbelief, though. All of her friends were called. One of them, Ayo, lives in Port Harcourt and told them that on the same day, Mercy called her and asked for a loan of N30,000. Ayo says that Mercy told her that she was sick and needed the money. Ayo told the family that the money left her account at 1.59pm on the same day, and that by 2.02pm, Mercy's phone had been turned off and had not been turned back on.

With her help, the police were able to find the account she used to send the money to Mayowa, who happened to be Mercy's doctor in Trado. In the past, Mayowa had helped Mercy give birth to one of her children.

Ayo told the police that Mayowa, the account holder who received the N30, 000, was at First Bank. With the help of the Bank, Mayowa was arrested.

When Mayowa was questioned, he said he saw Mercy four years ago when she came to his birth centre to give birth to a girl. However, his phone records and chats show that he and Mercy talked on December 15 at about 9:00 p.m., which is when they talked.

Promise, Mercy's younger sister, told LIB that her sister had been found dead. She said Mayowa confessed to killing Mercy after one of the three people who were arrested in connection with her disappearance said that they killed her as well.

He led police to his backyard, where he had cut up her body, put it in sacks, and then buried it. Promise said that Mayowa didn't give a reason for killing mercy, but it is thought that it was for religious reasons. That's where she said he is now.
