Sport: Bring Back Aubameyang-Paul Merson

Mikel Arteta has been warned by #Arsenal great Paul Merson to return striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang back to his squad.

Merson claimed that Arteta should have 'chopped his nose off to spite his face' in relation to Aubameyang, whom he hailed as one of Arsenal's top players.

Mikel Arteta kicked Aubameyang out of Arsenal's first-team squad after he was deprived of the captain's armband due to a disciplinary issue.

For nearly a month, the Gabonese captain has not played for Arsenal.

Merson told Sky Sports, "To be honest, I think Mikel Arteta chopped his nose off to spite his face in the first place in regards to Aubameyang."

"Arsenal needs to sit down with him." You've probably seen it before, where players just say, "That's it." He was hung out to dry and then discarded.

"Everything might have been worked out behind the scenes." There's a lot to this tale, and it could definitely have been handled better on both sides, but it now needs to be resolved.

"On his day, Aubameyang is still one of Arsenal's top players in my opinion."

Aubameyang had previously been linked with a move away from Arsenal, attracting interest from Barcelona and Juventus.
