Akeredolu warns that the bloodthirsty herdsmen would not be allowed to take control of his people.

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has warned that his administration will not allow criminals acting as herders to overrun the state under any circumstances.

Akeredolu promised greater security in various sections of the state, emphasising that he will not hesitate to prosecute the killer herdsmen threatening several cities.

On Tuesday, the Governor spoke at his office while hosting members of the Auga Community on a courtesy visit, led by the Alauga of Auga-Akoko, Oba Samuel Agunloye.

Molege, an agrarian village in the state's Ose Local Government Area, was assaulted by at least 50 herders armed with Ak-47 rifles two weeks ago, with three people slain and buildings set ablaze when residents refused to allow them to graze their cows on community farmlands.

On Sunday, two people were killed by suspected herders in Okeluse, Ose Council Area.

Akeredolu, who voiced his disgust with attacks on farmers and their farmlands, particularly in bordering towns, promised that security will be beefed up in the future.

He urged locals to be prepared and to report suspicious criminals to security forces as soon as possible, saying his administration would not allow killer herdsmen to gain control of the state.

The Governor also asked traditional rulers in the state to work with the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies to safeguard the safety of their domain.

On behalf of the Auga Community, Oba Agunloye praised the governor for his unwavering efforts to ensure the safety of people as well as different infrastructural projects across the state.
