Ademola lookman will play for Nigeria if...

Lookman, a Leicester City player, has not been cleared by FIFA to represent Nigeria, according to the Nigeria Football Federation.

After playing for England's Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 teams, the 24-year-old helped them win the U-20 World Cup in 2017.

When Lookman applied to change his nationality in October, he did so to the country of his parents' citizenship. As a result, Gernot Rohr, the former coach of the Super Eagles, included his name on the initial tentative list for the 2022 African Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon.

According to a statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday, the process of confirming his participation in the AFCON tournament in Nigeria has not been completed.

According to the Nigerian Football Federation, Augustine Eguavoen, the temporary coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles, did not removed his name from the tentative AFCON list.

A statement from the Nigeria Football Federation reads, "The Nigeria Football Federation has announced clearly that Ademola Lookman of Leicester City FC OF England has not yet been cleared by World Football body, FIFA to represent Nigeria at international level."

To claim that interim Head Coach austin eguavoen was the one who omitted the player from Nigeria's final 28-man roster for Cameroon 2021 is therefore incorrect.

The initial provisional list, on the other hand, featured his name because it was believed that the procedure would be finished before the start of AFCON."
