One of the secessionist movements clamouring for the South-East region's independence from Nigeria, the Biafran National Guard, has promised to protect Biafraland at any costs.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the organisation ordered President Muhammadu Buhari's government to stop killing or detaining its members and civilians, while also listing the names of those currently detained.
The BNG's armed warriors can be seen in the footage in a woodland in the South-East.
The group's defence headquarters, according to the group, are in Nsukka, Enugu State.
In addition, one of the commanders seen on camera stated that the gang had just started an operation to arrest Jane Agbede, the Abia State Commissioner of Police.
"This is the BNG, Biafran nation, coming from their mission," a member of the gang was overheard stating. Today is December 13th, 2021, and they are the first defence movement's troops, ready to defend their nation at any costs. The mission was a success, so welcome back, brave men. We are prepared to protect Biafraland in any way we can."
"Friends and lovers of freedom all across the world," one of the group's commanders said in the video. The date is December 13th, 2021. My guys and I went on a mission from our defence headquarters in Nsukka to Umuahia yesterday. We went to activate our self-defense mechanism.
"We have begun to defend our newly declared nation; Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released, and the Federal Government must be warned." The Federal Government has been advised that Mazi Ben Onwuka must be released. Mazi Chukwuemeka has to be let free. We are quite aware that we can be heard clearly. Our right to Biafra exists.
