As the United States military and State Department rush to evacuate American citizens and Afghan allies from Kabul's airport, Taliban checkpoints are cutting many people off from freedom and safety – and reports on the ground indicate that the militants are summarily executing people who have assisted US forces over the years.
According to Ryan Rogers, a retired Marine sergeant, the interpreter who worked with US during the horrific 2010 assault of Marjah in Helmand province is today imprisoned in Kabul, unable to reach the airport while Taliban fighters hunt down and murder former Afghan commandos and interpreters.
“He told me yesterday that they found three Afghan National Army leaders and hung them,” he said. “And that they're going house-to-house to close where he's hiding, and that they put out a broadcast stating they had plans for the people who worked with America.”The interpreter, who was not recognized due to safety concerns, was fine as of Thursday afternoon.
