The bishops who saw Kashim Shettima's introduction as Bola Tinubu's running mate for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, have been labelled as false by the Catholic Church.
The bishops in question, according to Rev. Fr. Patrick Alumuku, spokesman for the Catholic Church's Abuja headquarters, were not their representatives.
Alumuku emphasised that the phoney bishops were invited to the gathering by Tinubu's campaign team.
"We have seen the pictures going around online; they are not bishops of the Catholic Church. Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima's function today was not attended by any representatives of the Catholic Church.
He told reporters, "If you look at the imposters' attire and behaviour, you will see they are not Catholic Church officials.
Shettima had been introduced by APC as Tinubu's running mate on Wednesday.
Contrary to Nigerians' clamour, who demanded a Christian running mate, this was done.
Tinubu chose a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in spite of such calls.
