President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the release of ₦4 billion to pay severance benefits to 600 former employees of the defunct Nigeria Airways.
The latest payment, which covers batches 10 and 11, will be disbursed through the Federal Ministry of Finance as part of the government's efforts to settle outstanding entitlements owed to former workers of the national carrier.
The approval follows an earlier release of ₦18 billion in September 2026, which covered 2,700 former Nigeria Airways employees across the first nine batches.
With the additional ₦4 billion, the Federal Government is continuing its programme to clear unpaid severance benefits owed to former staff following the airline's closure.
The latest disbursement brings the total amount approved across the reported payments to ₦22 billion, covering 3,300 former employees.
The payments are expected to provide financial relief to the beneficiaries who have been awaiting their outstanding entitlements.
