The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a secure process allowing eligible candidates to update their registered phone numbers and email addresses in cases where they have genuinely lost access.
The examination body announced the development in a post shared on its official X account, explaining that the new process is designed to help candidates regain access to important information linked to their JAMB profiles.
According to JAMB, candidates seeking to change their registered GSM number or email address will have to complete a verification process before the details can be updated.
Who Can Change Their JAMB Phone Number or Email?
JAMB said the service is strictly for candidates with genuine cases of lost access to their registered phone number or email address.
The process is not presented as a routine update service for candidates who simply want to replace their existing contact details.
Candidates who qualify are required to visit designated JAMB Professional Test Centres (PTC) or Professional Registration Centres (PRC) to access the service.
Biometric Verification Required
JAMB said candidates will be taken through a verification process as part of the procedure.
The process includes the presentation of required documentation and biometric verification to confirm the identity of the candidate before the requested change can be processed.
The board advised candidates to follow the prescribed steps carefully and ensure they have the necessary documents before visiting a designated centre.
Service Can Only Be Accessed Once
One important condition highlighted by JAMB is that the service can only be accessed once.
This means candidates who successfully change their registered phone number or email address through the process will not have unlimited opportunities to repeat the procedure.
JAMB urged candidates to make sure they provide the correct replacement details and follow the instructions carefully.
JAMB Explains New Contact Details Update Process
The board also released a “JAMB Explained” video to guide candidates through the procedure, including the required documentation, biometric verification and what to expect when making the change.
The development could be particularly important for candidates who can no longer access the phone number or email address originally used during their JAMB registration.
Candidates affected by such situations are advised to use only the designated JAMB centres and follow the official procedure rather than relying on unofficial individuals or channels.
