INEC Publishes Names, Credentials of 19 Presidential Candidates for 2027 Election

The electoral umpire announced that the candidates' information has been displayed at its offices nationwide to allow Nigerians to examine the documents submitted by those seeking the country's highest political office.
The published documents, contained in Form EC9, include the personal particulars, affidavits and academic credentials submitted by the candidates during the nomination process.
According to INEC, the exercise is a statutory requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act, 2026, which mandates the commission to publish the details of nominated candidates within 21 days of receiving nominations from political parties.
The commission said the documents are available for public inspection at its headquarters as well as state and local government offices across the country.
INEC noted that the public display is intended to enhance transparency in the electoral process and provide an opportunity for citizens to verify the information submitted by candidates ahead of the 2027 polls.
The commission urged interested members of the public to visit its offices to inspect the documents in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
