Xabi Alonso Set to Join Real Madrid as Head Coach Until 2028, Replacing Ancelotti Ahead of FIFA Club World Cup.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Xabi Alonso is set to become the next head coach of Real Madrid.

The Spanish manager has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with the club, which would keep him at the helm until the summer of 2028.

This marks a significant move for both Alonso and Real Madrid, as the club prepares for the departure of current manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is expected to leave at the end of the 2024–2025 season to take up his new role with the Brazil national team.

Xabi Alonso, who has impressed during his time managing Bayer Leverkusen—leading them to remarkable domestic and European performances—is now expected to begin strategic planning for Real Madrid’s upcoming campaigns.

A key focus will be the FIFA Club World Cup, which will feature an expanded format in 2025. Real Madrid, having qualified as one of Europe’s top clubs, will aim to secure another global title under Alonso’s leadership.
