On April 22, Aisha Yahaya, a 300-level female student in the Food and Science Technology Department of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil, Kano, was discovered dead in her flat off campus.
During the school's continuing first-semester exam, Yahaya was reported to have completed her first exam and gone to her room, where she was discovered dead.
Although the exact reason of her death is unknown, some of her coworkers speculate that test pressure may have had a role.
The school acknowledged the tragedy, lamented her passing, and prayed for her soul to rest in a statement that was made public. Yahaya was subsequently buried in accordance with Islamic customs.
