A Louisiana man handed 50 years imprisonment and physical castration: see details for his crime.

After admitting guilt to raping a 14-year-old girl, a Louisiana man was sentenced to 50 years in jail and will undergo physical castration, according to District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

Springfield resident Glenn Sullivan Sr., 54, entered a guilty plea to four charges of second-degree rape on April 17.

As per his plea deal with prosecutors, Sullivan was ordered to be physically castrated and given a 50-year jail sentence by Judge William Dykes on Monday, April 22, according to Perrilloux's statement.

Assistant District Attorney Brad Cascio, who lead the prosecution in this case, stated, "I want to say I've had three people ordered to be chemically castrated but, to my knowledge, this is the first physical castration to be ordered," according to WBRZ.

In the statement, Cascio stated, "I thought this case was strong enough to warrant such action." "

The most malicious crimes we prosecute are sex crimes against juveniles," he continued.

I plan to pursue justice for the children in our town by employing every weapon the legislature is willing to provide us, even if it means physically castrating them.”

A young woman told investigators that Sullivan had sexually assaulted her several times when she was fourteen, and as a result, the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office launched an investigation in July 2022, according to the statement.

"A DNA test that was ordered during the course of the criminal investigation proved Sullivan had impregnated her," the statement states, referring to the young teen's subsequent pregnancy.

According to the statement, detectives also discovered that Sullivan had intimidated the girl and threatened to harm her and her family in order to keep her from telling anybody about the rapes.

Males who are legally required to undergo castration may opt for either pharmacological castration or surgical excision of their testicles, like Sullivan did.

Cascio, the child victim, and LPSO Detective Ryan Bernard were all complimented by District Attorney Perrilloux for stepping forward to pursue the charges.

Fear prevents so many of these kinds of cases from being reported," he stated. "This young woman's courage to speak the truth in the face of danger and misfortune is absolutely amazing."
